Day trip to Tropea, Calabria

Ciao from Calabaria, Italy 🌺

Welcome to one of Italy's most picturesque towns. Tropea is located on Calabria's west coast. Known for its turquoise beaches, onions, incredible views and so much more.

Our time spent in this well known destination did not disappoint.

We started our morning with a traditional Italian breakfast at our hotel.

Hotel L'Oasis Di Riaci is a beautiful hotel with lots of extra amenities. Large rooms, parking, friendly staff, delicious pool side breakfast, and an added bonus, access to the beach across the street. Another bonus is the AC was cold. If you have ever been to Italy in August, you know that it gets very hot and humid.

Our hotel provides a driver that will take you across the street to the beach. You have access to the onsite restaurant and complementary lounge chairs during your stay.

Make sure to enjoy the panoramic views before descending down to stunning the beach.

Since moving to Italy, my favorite summertime dish is fried calamari and a Peroni (Local beer).

Only a 10 minute drive from our hotel we visited the historic center city of Tropea. The star of the show is the Santa Maria dell'Isola. This church definitely is the symbol of the city of Tropea. Surrounded by the sea it stands on a rock and is visible from many points of the city.

During your time in the center of Tropea you will see cobblestone streets, small alleyway, restaurants and souvenir shops.

After walking around the town we stopped into Frida Kahlo Restaurant for a drink and a bite to eat. We enjoyed our margaritas and nachos. Nothing better than enjoying an apéritif under the warm Italian sun.
