We began our evening with a scenic drive from Tropea (only a 9 minute drive from our hotel) to the Brattirò hills of Tropea. Once we arrived at Cantina Masicei Vineyard we were greeted with friendly faces. Our evening started with a walk through the vineyard and an informative explanation of the grapes and vines. We learned about the harvesting process and the type of grapes they planted. Our guide lead us through the vineyard and explained to us the production of their organic wine. Our guide Cosmo only spoke Italian but there was an interpreter to help translate into English for us. You can really tell the owner takes pride in his wine production.
As the sun began to set we were escorted to a picturesque spot to sit under the olive trees where we would start our wine tasting and aperitif. We tasted 6 of Cantina Masiceli wines. We savored an abundant of local cheese, meats, bruschetta, and homemade jams. Everything was delicious. Everything was served family style manner, reflecting the Italian tradition of communal dining. Since living in Italy I've learned that Italians love to eat! And so do we so it's a perfect match! At any true Italian event there will be a lots of good food and drinks!

The vineyard set the perfect mood with lively traditional music. By the end of the night everyone was dancing.
We ended our tasting with a romantic sunset overlooking the Tropea hills.
