The second part of our African vacation starts with an early morning flight to Dar Es Salam. This is where we will meet our Tour Guide that will take us all the way to Mikumi National Park.
I say ALL THE WAY... Because its about a 5 hour drive. When we initially booked this trip. I was unaware of the distance between the Airport and the National Park. My fault for not doing great research.
(Now I know why our tour guide left it out of the details) We left our Stone Town hotel Kholle House early morning to make our flight to Dar Es Salam. Once we arrived we boarded a small plane that took us over to the mainland. Its about a 30 min plane ride over.
After our short flight over to the mainland we were greeted by our Safari Tour guide. He met us at the airport then took us all the way to the Mikumi National Park.
As you can see on our faces we were excited to have arrived.
once we arrived.
Where to Stay in the National Park?
Mikumi Wilderness Camp located inside the Mikumi National Park.
When we arrived we were greeted by friendly faces and a Massai Tribe member personally escorted us to our room for the evening.
Day 2
We had an early wake-up call for another game drive. We started our morning with an abundant breakfast. Eggs, toast, fruit, sausage and tea or orange juice. Breakfast is set in an outdoor terrace. We were able to see zebra grazing during breakfast. There is nothing like sipping orange juice and watching animals graze past you.

The sunrise game drive was just as spectacular as the evening drive.
Thank you to the Mikumi staff who keep this National Park absolutely beautiful. This trip was truly a trip of a life time. We will cherish these memories.
We are looking forward to returning to Africa.
