Cabrillo National Monument in San Diego

Cabrillo National Monument has some of the most magnificent views of the San Diego skyline. There are opportunities to explore
natural and cultural history of San Diego.
At the Cabrillo National Museum you can make it as interactive as you want or as relaxed as you want. As a local growing up in San Diego we use to go here all the time. Not only as a family, also for school field trips. As an adult I still think this National Park is a Point Loma gem and a beautiful way to spend a day exploring nature. This is one of San Diego's best view locations! If you have some for time I highly recommend heading up to this cities treasure!
Keep reading to find my suggestion for lunch!
If you are looking for a relaxing and scenic way to spend a day in San Diego, I highly suggest Cabrillo National Monument  located on the southern tip of the Point Loma Peninsula in San Diego.
 The google address:
1800 Cabrillo Memorial Drive,
San Diego
Cabrillo is open everyday from 9:00am-5:00pm
except Christmas and Thanksgiving. There is a small fee to enter the National Park

For the best views a self-guided two-mile walk through a coastal sage scrub forest begins near the Lighthouse. This trail offers views of the harbor and city of San Diego and is particularly pleasant during the spring when wildflowers bloom.

A little south of the Lighthouse is the Whale Overlook. This vantage point offers pleasant views of the Pacific Ocean and the New Point Loma Lighthouse. Whales are often seen from here in January and February.

On the west side of the park, accessible by car only, is a beautiful coastal area. Birding is popular year round, and during extreme low tides visitors enjoy exploring the intertidal zone

This picturesque  Lighthouse was restored in the 1880's
Representing life as it was for the light keepers and their families. Adjacent to the lighthouse is the assistance keepers interactive exhibit telling the story of the Lighthouse.
The views from the top are incredible.
On a clear day you can see the San Diego Skyline, Whales, Dolphins,
Navy ships and the Pacific Ocean.

After spending the morning at the National park worked up an appetite. We headed over to the Point Loma Seafood for lunch. They have panoramic views of San Diego Bay and Downtown San Diego. You can order a delish fresh fish daily.
What to Order?
I ordered shrimp and fries, and coleslaw
Husband ordered the Combo-
2 piece Cod, 2 Shrimp and 1 crab cake with
Coleslaw fries and tarter sauce.
And of course two cold beers!
Everything is delicious and the fish is fresh.

After lunch we walked around the marina and ended the day with an ice cream.
A sweet way to end our day in San Diego 🍦💕
