"A Slice of Denmark in Southern California".
Danish village of Solvang,
Which means "Sunny Field" in Danish. Located in the Santa Ynez Valley.
Known as the "Danish Capital of America".
We visited Solvang on our way down the California Coast.
A must do in Solvang...... enjoy an authentic Danish pastry and stroll through the village. Pick up souvenirs at a local gift shop. Make sure to Enjoy one of the many festivals or simply
enjoy the famous European Architecture.
Solvang is one of my favorite little towns to visit when driving through California.
When you are in Solvang make sure to stop into Mortensen's Bakery in Petersens Village. A quaint cafe where you can enjoy an authentic and delicious apple strudel.
Next Stop.... OstrichLand USA
While driving from Solvang make sure to stop at OstrichLand USA. Home to over 100 Ostrich and Emus. The property is really nice. There are beautiful views of the Valley an places to sit and enjoy the animals. There also are a few Instagram photo places! Bring your camera!
Feeding Ostrich has never been on my bucket list, but after a few minutes here I realized I was enjoying feeding the Emus and Ostrich.
Hold on TIGHT..... While holding your bowl for feeding. Ostrich are quite aggressive eaters.
Watch your fingers because they DO BITE!
Or maybe we came at lunch time and they were hungry!
Either way its a fun and inexpensive experience for the whole family to enjoy.
